Shirleen Fruean aka Queen Shirl’e’s vision is to provide young people an opportunity to learn new skills and gain the confidence for a positive pathway in life. Her newest initiative if a programme which will give young people from age 11 to 23rys, guidance in hosting a podcast as a form of storytelling and journalism, as well as film acting to build confidence. The participants will work together as a team to create content, which will be shared with peers and family at the conclusion of the workshop series.
The programme is supported by Māngere Town Centre Library staff and will involve guest speakers including: Lavina Williams (award winning singer/actress) Aiigagalefili Fepuluai (activist/poet) and John Pulu (Tagata Pasifika TV presenter).
