275 Times local media initiative focuses on enriching our community by providing a platform for people of Māngere Ōtāhuhu to communicate their stories back to the community.
Support from the Arts Broker Fund enabled 275 Times to employ a new editor Hermann Arp who brings a new set of skills, experience and local networks to the 275 Times team. Hermann’s role includes exploring potential opportunities to expand and enhance 275 Times’ reach and engagement with the Mangere-Otahuhu community, including schools and businesses. Since Hermann coming on board 275 Times has increased circulation of the magazine to 5,000 and there has been demand to increase it further with the inclusion of Otahuhu. 275 Times also maintains an active online presence via the 275 Times website and facebook page.
A future goal of this initiative is to provide employment, mentoring and creative career opportunities for young people.
