This project will present a concert of original music and dance compositions that presents ideas to challenge and promote artistic and educational discussions around the compositional fusion of music and dance from a distinctively and uniquely Samoan composor's perspective.
Dr. Opeloge Ah Sam is a past teacher at Māngere College, currently teaching Music at Marcellin College. Opeloge expressed a keen interest in being involved in Māngere Ōtāhuhu Arts as a way to give back to his community, with the skills and experience he has gained in his own career. To encourage and support the younger generation of local musicians.
“I have worked in the Music and Performing Arts Scene for around 20 years both in NZ and Internationally as a Pianist / Conductor and Composer. Most recent work was premiered in the Auckland Dance Festival 2024 called AUA E TE TAGI and currently working on composing the music for a documentary from the recent World Choir Games that will screen on SKY TV International and Netflix in 2025.” Dr. Opeloge Ah Sam.
