The Māngere Ōtāhuhu Arts website Noticeboard and E-Newsletter is a place for creative artists, groups and organisations in the local area to share, seek, promote, and post a "call-out" to the local community.
You can submit your notice for either the Noticeboard, or the monthly E-Newsletter or both. We'll also endeavour to share your notice on the Māngere Ōtāhuhu Arts Facebook page if you like.

You can submit your notice at anytime and it will be published within 1 -2 days. Simply fill in the notice submission form here: http://bit.ly/35cb03s Or email mangereotahuhuarts@gmail.com with your notice: title, jpeg image and text.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS / Creative projects to showcase at Māngere Arts Centre

Have you got a creative project to showcase at Māngere Arts Centre - Ngā Tohu o Uenuku?  

The centre is currently calling for creative project proposals, which will form their 2019 programme. This opportunity is open to groups, collectives or individuals wanting to exhibit and/or create unique programmes, across a range of creative & artistic forms.

You'll need to get your proposal in by 5pm Mon 30 July, by completing the form on "smartygrants" which can be found by clicking Māngere Arts Centre in the list of venues here

Māngere Arts Centre - Ngā Tohu o Uenuku Call for Proposals/Pānui 2018

Māngere Arts Centre – Ngā Tohu o Uenuku is the home of Māori and Pacific visual and performing arts in Tāmaki Makaurau. The year-round gallery programme reflects the diversity of arts, crafts and cultural activities within the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu local board community. The centre’s primary purpose is to engage and inspire communities with Māori and Pacific arts and culture.

We are calling for creative projects from groups, collectives or individuals interested in exhibiting and/or creating unique projects, programmes or events at Māngere Arts Centre – Ngā Tohu o Uenuku in 2018.

The annual programme at Māngere Arts Centre – Ngā Tohu o Uenuku aligns with various festivals throughout the year including Matariki Festival (2019 dates are yet to be announced). If your project recognises this or any other event, then please indicate that fact in your proposal.

Project criteria
Preference is given to artists from the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu local board area and the wider Auckland region.
Your project should be relevant to the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu local board community, context or location.
Your project should meet one or more of the following objectives in the Māngere Arts Centre – Ngā Tohu o Uenuku Business Plan 2015-2018:

  • To develop the centre as a destination facility for Māori and Pacific arts and culture that attracts local, national and international audiences
  • To create an environment that is welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable for local people
  • To ensure all spaces in the centre are utilised to their full potential
  • To deliver a balanced range of arts and culture experiences, including contemporary and heritage visual and performing arts by local, national and international artists
  • To increase local communities access to and participation in the arts (with a specific focus on youth audiences)
  • To support and mentor local artists and connect them to broader audiences and opportunities

In addition, priority will be given to:
Group projects and/or projects with well-developed, unique programmes or events
Projects that recognise and celebrate Matariki, the Māori New Year

The call for proposals closes at 5pm on Monday 30 July 2018. The outcome of proposals will be notified by Friday 17 August 2018. Successful proposals will be invited to an initial meeting to discuss project scope, installation details, project dates, and marketing information. The overall budget, accompanying public programme and associated resources required will also be discussed at this time. Applicants will be contacted if further information is required.
